FREQUENTLY ASKED
Who can join the retreat?
The Jyoti Yoga Retreat is designed for certified yoga teachers (RYT 200/300/500 or equivalent) and experienced practitioners who wish to deepen their practice, explore advanced techniques, and reconnect with the true essence of yoga.
This retreat is for those who are:
Ready to explore advanced asana and deepen their embodied practice.
Interested in immersing themselves in yogic philosophy, meditation, and pranayama.
Seeking a transformative space to nurture their growth—whether as a teacher or dedicated practitioner.
Open to sharing challenges, reflections, and engaging in honest, meaningful conversations.
Wanting to connect with a community of like-minded teachers and practitioners.
It’s a space to recharge, reflect, and remember why you first stepped onto the mat, in the company of those walking the path with heart and intention.
Can I attend if I don’t teach?
Absolutely! This retreat is open not only to certified yoga teachers (whether you are currently teaching or not) but also to dedicated, experienced practitioners who wish to deepen their practice. If you have completed a 200-hour teacher training or have substantial personal practice and want an immersive, transformative experience, you are welcome to join.
Please note that some of the evening Teacher Circles may focus on topics most relevant to teaching yoga and might not be 100% relatable for those who have never taught. However, they are highly engaging for anyone who works independently or facilitates others—such as breathwork instructors, meditation coaches, life coaches, massage therapists, or other practitioners guiding people in any form. These sessions explore themes like boundaries, self-care, professional sustainability, and authenticity that are useful across many fields.
Do I receive a certificate?
This retreat is designed for personal experience and inner growth rather than formal training, so no certification is provided. Our focus is on helping you deepen your practice, relax, and reconnect with yourself in a supportive environment.
What should I bring?
Your Yoga Mat – Mats are available at the retreat center, but bringing your own is recommended.
Comfortable Yoga Clothes – Bring layers for varying temperatures. Rishikesh can be very cold in January, especially mornings and evenings. Include warm sweaters, jackets, scarves, and enough clothes for hand washing if needed.
Refillable Water Bottle – Water is provided at the retreat.
Personal Props – Blocks, straps, or other props are optional.
Cash (INR) – For small expenses such as markets, cafes, or local transport.
Hairdryer – If you need one, please bring it.
Laundry Supplies – Bring enough clothes and washing powder. There are cleaners nearby, but washing by hand in winter may make drying difficult, so extra clothes are recommended.
Additional Notes:
January in Rishikesh is cold, particularly in the mornings and evenings. Layered clothing will help you stay comfortable during outdoor practices, meditation, and sightseeing.
Rishikesh has many yoga shops where you can purchase essentials if needed.
Travel Information
- Most international travelers require a tourist visa for India. We recommend applying for an e-Visa at least 4 weeks before departure via the official government website.
- The nearest airport is Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport (DED), located about 35-45 minutes from Rishikesh. Alternatively, you can fly into Delhi (Indira Gandhi International Airport – DEL) and take a domestic flight, train, or taxi to Rishikesh.
Please plan to arrive in Rishikesh on January 5th, as the retreat begins that day. If you require an airport transfer from Dehradun (DED) airport to the retreat center—and back after the retreat—we’re happy to arrange it for you at an additional cost of $25 USD each way, payable on site.
Just let us know in advance if you’d like to book this service, and we’ll coordinate the details for a smooth arrival.
Is Wi-Fi available?
There is limited WiFi at the retreat center. We encourage a digital detox, but if you need to stay connected, you have a few options: you can consider getting an Indian SIM card or e-SIM for mobile data, or you can visit local cafes that offer strong WiFi—perfect for checking emails or staying in touch without purchasing a SIM. Let us know if you need any help or recommendations for either option.
Can I come or leave early?
To get the full experience, we recommend staying for the entire retreat. However, if you have travel constraints, let us know in advance.
